Diana Star Helmer’s love for theatre, writing, and stories of strong women began simultaneously when she was eight years old and read Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. She began acting four years later in a community theatre production of Wait Until Dark. She had the privilege of appearing in plays by (among others) Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, and Thornton Wilder before graduating high school and pursuing a journalism degree. She wrote theatrical reviews for more than a decade, for newspapers including the Ames Tribune and the Tacoma News Tribune. She went on to write more than 40 books, both fiction and non-fiction, and two plays. She continues to work in her garden of ideas.
